Software is Not Just a Tool (via The World)

Here’s an excellent posting on the problems of different perspectives about what software is, and what makes it useful. There’s a fundamental divide between developers who believe users should just use the software the way they make it — whatever their malicious motives are — and developers who treat users with respect.
